Monroe County Chamber of Commerce – This business membership organization focuses on providing value for its members, enhancing the business climate in the Monroe County area and advocating for public policy that supports economic growth and vitality. They provide their members with countless networking opportunities, they fight to protect the interest of local businesses in Lansing and Washington D.C. and they help business join together to form a better community.
Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) – Offers one-stop business assistance. Our business development managers work with consultants, utilities, associations and local economic development agencies to best match business needs with Michigan opportunities.
The Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) of Michigan- The PTAC’s of Michigan’s highly skilled professionals assist Michigan businesses in acquiring federal, state and local government contracts. The local PTAC office is housed in Southgate at the Downriver Community Conference.
Michigan Works! – The Monroe County Employment & Training Department (MCETD) administers a variety of programs using grant dollars awarded by SEMCA (Southeast Michigan Community Alliance). The local business community is able to access customized personnel services at no cost through a wealth of resources such as Michigan Talent Connect, a no-cost employment website. Employers can also host job fairs and have access to interviewing space on site at MCETD.
MI-SBTDC- The Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center provides counseling, training and research for new business ventures, existing small businesses and innovative technology companies.
SBA- The U.S. Small Business Administration is an independent agency of the federal government best known for its guaranteed loan programs. The SBA also provides a wide variety of other assistance to small businesses including start-up information, training, government contracting, minority enterprise development and more. Most of these programs are delivered through partnerships with local organizations.
