Crafts 2000 located at 15311 S. Dixie Hwy. in Monroe Township, will remain open into 2015.

The craft store was scheduled to close by December 31, 2014 after it moved into the Mall of Monroe in September under the new name Pat Catan’s.

Pat Catan’s is a craft store franchise that owns Crafts 2000.

Instead of closing the old location, it will act as a Pat Catan’s clearance center to complement the new store, said manager Luke Burt.

“We have a split between our customers,” Mr. Burt said. “ We have the people who want the clearance items and we have the diehard artists who go for the fine arts at Pat Catan’s. It’s perfect for both groups to have two locations.

Pat Catan’s currently is working on settling the lease for the Crafts 2000 location, but the store continues to receive new merchandise.

Everything in the store is listed at 75 percent off, Mr. Burt said.

Crafts 2000 was an outgrowth of Le Galerie, a craft store owned by Sandra Gilliland that operated on Smith St. for about 25 years before moving in 1995 to the S. Dixie Hwy. location, which was built to house Fischer’s Big Wheel department store.

Crafts 2000 is open from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. Monday through Saturday.

Pat Catan’s in the Mall of Monroe is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p. m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a. m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
