Focus On The Future & Unveiling of Community Brand

We held our very first virtual Focus On The Future event the morning of November 12, 2020. It was the biggest attendance we have ever had at our 8th annual fall event bringing in 142 attendees! We thank everyone that was a part of putting on this production and our attendees for taking time out of their day to learn about the activities of the BDC, MCCC, and Michigan’s Cornerstone!

There are two stories in the Monroe News that relate to our event. The first being the cover story on the unveiling of our community brand, “Michigan’s Cornerstone.” Please click on the link and read this article. To learn more and get involved, please visit the Michigan’s Cornerstone website at michcornerstone.com, and please follow the social media sites under the same name on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

The second story on our event entitled, “Panel: Strategy, policies support development,” reports on the BDC’s development discussion panel that was led by Matt Vanisacker. The panelists included Michael Larsen, Managing Director of Insite Real Estate, and Mayor Robert Clark, City of Monroe. They presented a unifying message about strategic planning and policies which inspire development within communities. Mayor Clark and Mr. Larsen spoke about two recent development projects in Monroe County and what ultimately positions communities for success. Mr. Larson, who is based in Chicago, discussed the redevelopment of the former Nike Missile Base location, which is being repurposed as an automotive parts distributor hub for Ford Motor Co.

Thank you to Tyler Eagle of the Monroe News for coverage of our event.
