“This is beautiful,” Gov. Rick Snyder remarked while standing inside the new La- Z- Boy headquarters.

Over his shoulder were two renderings of what the 200,000-square-foot building will look like once it is completed.

Gov. Synder took a brief tour of the construction site Thursday after a speaking engagement at the Monroe Golf and Country Club.

He shook hands with a few of the workers from Rudolph Libbe and chatted with a halfdozen employees of the company and the new building.

“La-Z-Boy is a great company in our state, and we hope you keep growing,” the governor told company officials.

Sue Vanisacker, director of organizational effectiveness and community relations at La- Z- Boy, and LeAnn Knapp, director of store merchandising, were among those on the tour.

Mrs. Vanisacker explained the partnership between the company, the City of Monroe and Frenchtown Township as well as the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

“It was the absolute perfect example of everyone coming together,” she said.
